The Global Library of Wisdom — Best Practices for a Better World.

In the early part of the 21st century we find ourselves drowning in information, while starving for wisdom. The Global Library of Wisdom (GLoW) is a curated and categorized collection of wisdom about what is durable and stable as a societal process (positive wisdom) and what is not (negative wisdom).

What is wisdom in this context? Author Tom Atlee describes such wisdom as:
"Wisdom is applied appreciation of the wholeness of life. Someone or something is wise to the extent he, she or it arises from and embraces life's wholeness. Through wisdom we become vehicles or channels for wholeness on behalf of life."

Wisdom can be summarized as:

  1. It embraces the BIG PICTURE
  2. It uses MULTIPLE WAYS OF KNOWING
  3. It is INCLUSIVE AND OPEN
  4. It is INSIGHTFUL AND APPROPRIATE
  5. It is HUMBLE AND RECEPTIVE
  6. It SERVES LIFE
  7. It is GROUNDED IN RELATIONSHIP
  8. It has an ELEGANT SIMPLICITY
  9. It has INTEGRITY
  10. It has PRESENCE

Wisdom is also progressive, beginning with the knowledge of things, then progressing to the realisation of meanings, the appreciation of values, the nobility of work (duty), the motivation of goals (morality), the love of service (character), and finally reaching cosmic insight (spiritual discernment).
